E-Cards (Withdrawn)

The archive operated a free electronic postcard service from March 2001. Cards could be sent from this page for St Patrick's Day, for birthdays, for get well soon, and for no occasion. A lot of visitors used the no occasion one, which we had nearly not included.

The sending itself was handled by a company which provided this service to small websites, and which closed in October 2004. We looked at two other providers afterwards, but their forms wanted more information about the recipient than we were willing to pass on, so the service has been withdrawn rather than replaced. We are sorry to the visitors who liked it.

The four designs are shown below for the record. They cannot be sent any more, but there is nothing to stop you saving one and attaching it to an ordinary email, which comes to nearly the same thing.

In its three and a half years the service sent 611 cards. The busiest day was 17 March 2003, when it sent 44. We kept no record of what any of them said, which was the point of the arrangement, and we would ask visitors not to write in asking us to check.
